Homemade Chocolate Syrup

Skip the pricey store bought bottle of chocolate syrup and make your own. It tastes great, you're saving money, and skipping the preservatives!

You'll need...

3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/4 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Dash of salt

In a 2 quart saucepan, combine cocoa powder, water, sugar, and salt over medium heat. Whisk until smooth. Stir constantly until it boils. Allow the mixture to boil 1-2 minutes. Remove from the heat and add vanilla. Allow it to cool completely and thicken. Store in a mason jar and use to make sundaes, chocolate milk, shakes, etc. Store in a mason jar in the fridge where it will stay good for several weeks.
