Homemade Chili Seasoning

Chili seasoning packets from the grocery store can be great for a convenient weeknight meal. Although they are not too pricy, making them yourself can still be cheaper than buying them in the store. In addition, the store bought varieties are contain huge amounts of salt! I have taken up the task of making my own seasoning mix. This mix is so cheap to keep on hand and easy to throw together.

You'll Need:

1 tbsp unbleached flour
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cajun seasoning
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp dried minced garlic
2 tbsp dried minced onion
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Mix all of the ingredients together and store them in an airtight container. I make multiple batches at a time so I can always make chili when a cold, rainy day pops up. With a fiance that works outside rain, snow or shine, we tend to have chili often.
