We love to play sports in my house! With playing sports, comes the desire for sports drinks. Thanks to this recipe, I no longer buy sports drinks at the grocery store (unless I have a coupon making them free).
Here's what you'll need to make your own homemade Gatorade:
2 lemons
1 lime
1/3 cup honey
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 tsp dolomite powder (you could also used a crushed calcium tablet), optional
3+ cups filtered water (depends on desired taste)
Juice the 3 citrus fruits. Combine juice, honey salt, and calcium powder in a quart size jar (32 ounces). Make sure your jar has a tight fitting lid. Add enough water to make one quart of sports drink. Shake well. You can enjoy this right away or store it in the fridge. I tend to triple or even quadrupole the recipe and store it in the fridge with empty milk or juice jugs.
You can also play around with flavors by adding different fruit juices or drink powders such as Kool Aid, Crystal Light, or MIO.
