Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

I love making homemade stir-fry, fried rice, grilling marinades, etc. When you make them yourself, you know what goes into them and you can also control things like sugar and salt, making your homemade recipes healthier. Here is a recipe for homemade teriyaki sauce that is great on everything. I even use this sauce when we grill chicken and salmon. It is so tasty!

You'll Need:

1/2 cup soy sauce (I use a low sodium variety)
1 tsp grated ginger
1/2 cup cane sugar
1 medium garlic clove, minced
2 tbsp sweet cooking rice wine
1/2 tsp arrowroot

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sugar over medium heat. Whisk in rice wine and arrowroot. Bring to a boil. Whisk and reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the sauce thickens. It should resemble a syrup or a glaze when it is ready. Keep warm while you're preparing the items to go with the sauce, or store in a jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
